Upsilon at Convention!

Alpha Chi Omega hosts its Convention every two years at locations around the United States.  This year the Convention was held in Scottsdale, AZ from July 11-14th. The AXO Convention allows for chapters from around the US to gather in celebration of our sisterhood, as well as to take care of fraternity-wide issues such as Executive Elections.

Attending this year's Convention were three Upsilon members: Cat Clark, current Upsilon Chapter President, Jennifer Mohawk, representing Mu Nu Mu alumnae chapter, and Ashley Teichart, President of Gamma Chi Gamma alumnae chapter. Below are some highlights from this year's Convention:

"The Life Loyal program kicked-off. If you have not already received literature on this program, you will soon. The idea, as I understand it, is to begin an endowment to support fraternity publications and increase member engagement. The impact as most of us will feel it is that free subscriptions to the Lyre magazine will be phased out over the next few years, and will be available by subscription, to Life Loyal members, or via the Internet. Life Loyal membership is $299, which goes toward the endowment.

Alpha Chi Omega has a new "brand" which debuted. The new slogan "Real. Strong. Women." was well received by the convention body. The new trajectory of the fraternity includes a new "official" facebook page. I'm already a fan, so you can find it through my page or look for the "alpha chi omega" page with a new logo and the new slogan!

A resolution was passed to include in the articles of incorporation a clause to more clearly define the role of the Executive Director.

The 2008-2010 National Council was elected (including my friend and mentor Angela Costley Harris who is a new National Vice President!). Marsha King Grady will serve as National President.

National Convention 2010 will be in D.C.! Any Upsilon alumnae that want to make a little vacay of it are highly encouraged to come early and visit Charlottesville! I will show you all of the sites."

And then there were Ten...

Alpha Chi Omega's Mu Xi Mu alumnae chapter would like to congratulate the active members of Upsilon chapter on their successful Fall 2008 Informal Recruitment.  Through their efforts, the active members were able to welcome ten new members to this fall's class.  Welcome to Alpha Chi Omega ladies!
