The active members of Upsilon chapter participated in Informal Recruitment from September 10-14, 2007. The women kicked off the week with a Project Runway theme, chalk full with bright colors and an upbeat attitude. The women welcomed two new members on Bid Day! The week following recruitment welcomed five additional members through Continuous Open Bidding efforts, to bring Upsilon to seven total new members. The women are continuing to actively recruit throughout the semester. Congrats!
Mu Xi Mu alumnae chapter is offering an exciting opportunity to become actively involved in the donation efforts for Upsilon. The Lyre Lady Donation Club helps to raise money for various activities, events and projects for the house. Mu Xi Mu supports the active members of Upsilon throughout the school year throuhg alum programs, events and household purchases. Most recently, Mu Xi Mu rennovated the Rec Room in the basement. The old couches were tossed away and a brand new, cleaner look spruced up the basement area. Our very own alumna Dena Arendt was the creative mastermind behing the project. The active members now use the updated Rec Room for parties and as a highlight of the house for potential new members. Please consider becoming a Lyre Lady today!
Theresa Wike '05 is currently training for the Walt Disney World half-marathon on January 12, 2008, with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program.
The marathon is conducted to raise money for people who are battling blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin's disease. She has committed to raise $4,000 for this great cause and is participating in support of her mother.
If you are interested in helping Theresa meet her goal, she is currently accepting donations. You can donate on-line at www.active.com/donate/tntil/tntilTwike. This website can also be used to track Theresa's fundraising and training process, and all donations are 100% tax deductible!
Mu Xi Mu hosted a fall semester rummage sale on Saturday, September 22, 2007 to help raise funds for the recent rennovations to the Recreational Room. Alums from all over donated great items, and also volunteered to work the rummage sale. Over a six hour period, we were able to raise close to $600! This is our fourth sale in a row that has had such a great outcome. Remaining items were donated to the Salvation Army. Due to the success of the rummage sale, Mu Xi Mu was allowed to pay off the Rec Room furniture.
Mu Xi Mu has currently set up a Target Wish List for our active members. The purpose of the Wish List is to help address the current needs for the members of the house. You can view the list at www.target.com. Select the Wish List for AXO-Upsilon. You can also search by email by using millerlastof8@yahoo.com. Items purchased on the website will be sent directly to the Upsilon chapter house.
